Studio Policies

Payment

  • Tuition for private lessons is payable monthly, due the first lesson of the month.
  • Tuition holds your weekly time slot in my teaching schedule throughout the year. Students are required to pay for their reserved time even when they cannot attend the lesson.
  • Payment may be made by check, cash, or credit card via PayPal (additional fee applies). There will be no adjustment in tuition for lessons missed by the student for any reason.

Arrival

  • Plan to arrive a few minutes before your lesson. Allow enough time before your lesson to unpack your cello and study materials in the waiting room.
  • Students who arrive late cannot be guaranteed a full lesson.

Required Materials

  • Please bring your cello, bow and study materials to each lesson.
  • Students are expected to purchase their primary study book. I will provide supplemental materials, and will gladly coach students on music provided by school or other orchestras and ensembles.
  • A 3-ring binder is recommended.

Student Cancellation

  • Tuition pays for your reserved time in the studio schedule throughout the year. Canceled lessons will not be refunded for any reason.
  • Time for make-up lessons is extremely limited and cannot be guaranteed. Each student will be permitted one make-up lesson per semester, if schedules permit.
  • To qualify for make-up lessons students must provide at least 24 hours notice of cancellations.

Teacher Cancellation

  • Lessons that I cancel for any reason will be rescheduled, or credit will be given towards the next month’s tuition.

Recitals

  • There will be at least one studio recital per year, all students are highly encouraged to perform.
  • Specifics will be provided closer to the recital date.

Group Lessons

Parental Involvement

  • For students under 10 years old I recommend that a parent or guardian observe lessons and supervise daily practice.
  • I welcome discussion about your child’s progress at the beginning of your child’s lesson or by phone.
